Statute of 29th AGROFILM 2013
I. BASIC PROVISIONS
1. Agrofilm is an international festival of films and video programmes (hereinafter films) preferably on themes from agriculture and rural development.
2. The objective of the festival is to inform professional as well as nonprofessional public about the latest findings of science, research, development and practice in the sphere of agriculture, food industries, nutrition of population, problems in rural areas and their inhabitants, conservation of natural resources and improvement of life quality.
Agrofilm is arranged by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic. The festival is organized by the Animal Production Research Centre Nitra. The co-organizers of the international Agrofilm festival are the town Nitra, the Nitra Self-governing Region and other international and Slovak institutions.
3. The preparation and realization of the festival is managed by the festival committee, the chairman of which is the president of Agrofilm. The president of Agrofilm is appointed by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development SK, and the members of the festival committee are appointed by the president of Agrofilm.
4. The films in the competition are judged by an international jury of 5 members, the chairman and members of which are appointed by the president of Agrofilm.
5. The programme of the festival consists of:
• international film competition
• informative projection of film, which were not incorporated into the competition
• projection at wish
• special and concomitant events
6. The festival is organized by the festival committee headed by the president of Agrofilm.
7. Official languages of the festival are Slovak, Czech and English.
II. Registration and USE OF FILMS
1. Films can be entered for the international competition by producers, owners, distributors, authors and other organizations.
Entries for the international film competition must be submitted by 31st July 2013 to the address:

2. Films produced after 1st January 2011 can be accepted for the international competition AGROFILM 2013
3. Films submitted for the competition should be aimed first of all at problems in agriculture and food industries, rural development, quality of life and health in inhabitants.
4. Selection commission decides about acceptance of the registered films and selects films for competitive and informative projection. The selection commission has the right to reject any film, which does not correspond with the statute and objective of the festival by its technical quality or subject.
5. The number of registered films and video records is not limited. Participation in other festivals does not preclude participation in Agrofilm.
6. The screen time should not exceed 45 minutes. The selection commission can permit exception.
7. Films are accepted only in top quality without protection against copying on following mediums:
• DV-CAM, DVD
• mini DV, DV and DVCAM in TV norm PAL
• Betacam LP in TV norm PAL
• HDV
• Blu-ray disc
With films in foreign language must be DVD in English version (i.e. English spoken, dubbed into English, films in original version with English subtitles).
If the film is equipped with IT Band (International tape band), the organizer welcomes such version.
8. Each film for the competition must bear a title and must be confirmed by application.
9. The film for competition must have an annotation with no more than 100 words in English, Czech or Slovak. Texts in DOC format (MS – Word), other advertising material and photographs in JPG format are to be submitted on CD and 1x printed or send by e-mail to the address: This email address is being protected from spambots. 10. It is necessary to provide complete commentary (dialogue) document or text screenplay in format DOC (MS – Word) with screen time in one of the following languages: English, Czech, Slovak, French, Spanish. The film will not be accepted for the competition without the commentary document. The commentary document is required from the Slovak authors as well because the film can be subtitled into English for the international jury and presentation within the projection after the festival.
11. Films must be delivered to the address given on the application form by 31st July 2013 at the latest. Postal expenses and insurance is covered by the sender, costs for return is covered by the organizer.
12. The entrant does not pay participation fee for films and video records registered for the international competition. If the entrant wishes to register an advertising film s/he sends 200 EUR together with the registration (Bank contact: Štátna pokladnica SR, account number 7000345924/8180).
13. The festival organizers are not responsible for any damage to the copies due to normal wear.
14. The entrant agrees by signing the registration that the organizer of the festival can copy his film for the purpose of translation, sub-titling and projection, and that films selected for Agrofilm can be provided with Slovak or English titles or translation commentary. The film can be projected only as non-competitive in case of disagreement.
15. The entrant declares by his signature on the registration form that the film or material used in the film does not breach the law of intellectual and industrial property, author’s act, right of publicity, and that there will be filed no valid claims of the copyright owners and rights related to the author’s law in connection with the use of film against the organizer of Agrofilm APRC Nitra.
16. By the delivery of the registration for participation on the address of the organizer the entrant approves explicit and full approval to use the film free of charge in accordance with this statute for the owners of distribution and copyright owners.
17. The organizer warrants that the films will not be used for commercial purposes.
18. The prize-winning titles remain permanently in the archives of the organizer of the festival. The other films will be returned to the entrants by mutual agreement.
III. PERSONAL PARTICIPATION
1. Applications for personal participation must be sent to the following address before 31st August 2013:

Registration of the application will be certified by accreditation letter.
The organizers will especially welcome participation of entrants, authors, special advisors and film distributors, employees in scientific-technical publicity and news media, specialists from agriculture and food industry as well as ecologists.
2. The costs connected with the stay reimburse the participant himself.
IV. FILM COMPETITION AND PRIZES OF THE FESTIVAL
1. The films will be judged by an international jury. President of Agrofilm appoints the chairman and members of the jury. The international jury is competent to award the main prize and first 3 statutory prizes and to recommend award of other prizes.
V. FINAL PROVISIONS
1. Registration for participation signifies approval with the version of this statute. The Slovak text is obligatory.
2. The festival committee decides about all other things, which are not mentioned in the statute.
3. Selected and awarded films can be projected free in public-service television operating in the Slovak Republic with consent of the producer declared by the signature on the registration form.
