Mohutný storočný dub nás vedie putovaním v čase. Od mystických zvykov Keltov a Teutonov, kde dub bol svätý strom, až po kresťanstvo Karola Veľkého. Od dobrodružstiev, ktoré umožnili duby, ako loď sa plaví časom, kedy si romantici a revolucionári vybrali dub za svoj symbol slobody. Dokument zobrazuje dub nielen z kultúrno-historického hľadiska, ale aj ako bohatý a fascinujúci biotop s viac ako 500 druhmi hmyzu žijúcimi s dubom a z neho.

A mighty, 100 year old oak takes the audience through a journey of time. From the mysterious customs of the Celts and Teutons with the oak as a holy tree, to the christianisation of Charles the Great. From the adventures the wood of the oaks made possible as ship planks to the times, when romanticists and revolutionaries chose the oak as their symbol of freedom. The documentary portraits the oak not only in the cultural-historical view but also as a rich and fascinating biotope with more than 500 insect species living with and from the oak.
